Recorded Memories

A local scrapbook store, Scrapbook Unique, is having a design contest and I decided or should I say was talked into entering.  We were given 5 pages of Graphic 45 Curtain Call paper and a few embellishments (buttons, ribbon, fiber, and pearl trim).  We could combine cardstock with the patterned paper and add additional embellishments but the colors had to be Black, Tans and Cream.  We could also have an accent color if we wished.  The winner will receive their choice of one of the new Graphic 45 paper lines.

I love the color combination so I knew that would not be a problem.  I knew immediately what I wanted to create and the most challenging part of it was how I would accomplish it.  Here is my entry...

The phonograph is 100% my original creation and I made the box with chipboard.  The top comes off and a 6 x 6 mini album is stored in the box.

The mini album was inspired by Kathy Orta's  (Paper Phenomenon) Graduation Album.  I altered all the measurements to fit a 6 x 6 album but kept the basic page styles.  I am so happy with the way this turned out.

The turntable will actually rotate if you move it by hand but the crank does not turn it.  I used a circle scissors on the record with a pin to make the "grooves" then covered the entire record with Glossy Accents to make it shiny.

The crank handle was made with wooden beads and a word popsicle stick.

Here is the mini album that goes inside.

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed it.  It was so fun to make and I was so excited with the final project that I may just have to start working on some more!

I had to come check out your project after chatting just before Laura Denison's show on Friday night. I think you did a great job on this mini! I posted a link to your blog in the description of the YouTube video of my gramophone. I hope you don't mind.
